In this slide it multiple rays of light seem to be hitting point P1 and P2, do we say P1 is in shadow because at least one of the rays that reach it hit another object first? Or is it more of an average of all the rays to determine if P1 is in shadow?

When we consider area lights, do we treat them like 3D spheres of light or 2D disks?

we attempted area lighting for our final project and attempted it as 2D disks - not sure if that is the correct way, but that's the way I understood the research Kayvon linked in assignment 3
