Is there any particular reason/benefit to using the Hermite Basis for cubic polynomials over the traditional basis?

I believe that when we are given p0, p1, u0 u1 for interpolating, in Hermite case, you don't need to calculate a,b,c,d, which might be time consuming. You only need to plug in the value of p0, p1, u0, u1 to compute the spline.
